HSBC

The Hartford Select Baseball Club (HSBC) strives to develop our student athletes by building a passion for the game of baseball, teamwork, sportsmanship and character. The program emphasis is on player development, baseball fundamentals, and developing the skills to help our players become competitive baseball players leading up to their high school years. While wins are important in sports, player development is our emphasis.

Ages

What aged players are appropriate for this program?

Under 8 years old to under 14 years old as of May 1st.


TIMELINE

What time of the year does the club operate?

Tryouts are held in mid-to-late July with teams set before August. Practices begin in January with events held through the end of summer. Games begin late April and run through July.

Where

Where are practices and games typically held?

Winter practices will be held in the gymnasium at the Hartford Union High School and other local facilities we can lease. When weather allows, practices will begin outside at fields across the Hartford area.

8-10 home games will be played in Hartford at the Lincoln Athletic Fields (across from the high school), Independence Park, and Westside Park. 8-10 away games will be played throughout southeast Wisconsin at locations to be determined.

WHEN & HOW OFTEN

When are practices and games? How often are they?

Practices will begin in January at a date to be determined. Teams will practice on Sunday for 1-1/2 or 2 hours. Practices will take place outside when weather allows. Times, durations, and locations will be determined by the head coach of each team.

Games will begin in late April or early May and be played during the week. Each team will play 4 tournaments at locations to be determined by each team's head coach.

Games

How many games will they play? What days of the week?

Teams will play 16-20 league games. Teams will play 12-20 tournament games. In a typical tournament, teams that are winning will play more games.

Jerseys and Equipment

Are uniforms and equipment provided, or are they purchased separately?

Uniforms are provided. The uniform will consist of one pair of pants, two jerseys, one hat, one pair of socks, and a belt.

Players are responsible for providing their own bat, helmets, gloves, and cleats. Batting gloves are nice to have but are not required.

Catcher's gear will be provided. Players are welcome to provide their own.

Extra Costs

What costs beyond registration fees should be expected?

Any travel costs associated with travel to games and/or tournaments including gas, food, and lodging. Most teams will do (1) travel tournament outside of southeast Wisconsin that will require an overnight stay.

Each family will be required to participate in a club fundraising activities, which may consist of selling event tickets or raffle tickets estimated to be $200 in value.
